Step 5: Tilt tension (last, because it depends on everything above)
The tension knob — usually under the front of the seat, separate from the height lever — controls how much effort it takes to recline. Turn it clockwise to tighten (more of your body weight needed to lean back) and counterclockwise to loosen. Set it so the chair follows your movement rather than fighting it or dropping you backward.
